Our Story

In the spring of 2019, my mother started experiencing persistent headaches. At first, we thought it was stress from work, maybe dehydration, or simply the kind of thing that would pass with rest. But as weeks turned into months, the headaches grew worse. She began having trouble concentrating, and some days, the pain was so severe she couldn't get out of bed.

When we finally got her to see a doctor, they recommended an MRI to rule out anything serious. That's when we learned the harsh reality of our healthcare system: the wait time for a non-emergency MRI was over four months. Four months of uncertainty. Four months of watching my mother suffer without answers. Four months that, looking back, we simply didn't have.

Desperate for answers, we started researching alternatives. That's when we discovered that just across the border in the United States, we could get an MRI scheduled within days, not months. It wasn't cheap, but when it comes to family, you find a way.

That decision saved my mother's life.

The MRI revealed a brain tumor that, had we waited those four months, could have progressed beyond the point of successful treatment. Instead, because we caught it early, she was able to undergo surgery and begin treatment right away. Today, she's healthy, happy, and spending time with her grandchildren, something that might not have been possible if we had simply waited in line.
